Benjamin Lackner is now the center of attention of the jazz media. Newly signed to the ECM label, this German-American pianist is releasing one of the hottest albums of the moment. With Last Decade, composed of nine original tracks, eight of which are signed by Benjamin, and the last one composed with his accomplice Jérôme Regard, his career is taking off at high speed.
At the controls of this powerful jet, Manu Katché on the drums and Jérôme Regard on the double bass ensure a rhythmic of high flight. For the occasion Benjamin has surrounded himself with one of the most inventive saxophonists of the European scene, the Polish Maciej Obara. A high-fidelity crew that will make this flight the happiness of all audio’jazz’philes!
Recorded in September 2021 at the Studios La Buissonne and produced by Manfred Eicher, founder of ECM, Last Decade is obviously Benjamin’s research head, the one that will allow him to explore new sound spectrums. Accustomed to the formulas, solo, duo or trio, he has, with this quartet, widened his field of sounds and compositions. And it is a successful bet in one of the most demanding labels.
You only have to read the specialized jazz press to see that this album has been received with praise. Considered for example as one of the highlights of the international jazz festival Spark An Vision, its tour will take it all over the world and for our happiness will pass by the stage of the Palais Longchamp on July 20th.
