Marion Rampal “is the new generation” and you know why? Because she represents the future and the long-awaited destruction of the boundaries between male and female jazz. Once that’s said, it’s all about immersing yourself in her jazz, which, as well as being creative and innovative, generously opens the doors to her influences, such as Folk and Blues, because with her, nothing clashes. Marion recently unveiled a beautiful cover of Bob Dylan’s Don’t think twice, it’s alright, and will be appearing in a tribute to Claude Nougaro, another free jazzman. Marion Rampal is also a dictionary of the world’s languages and styles, be they Creole, Cajun, Berlin, French, or just plain Marseilles! Marseillais too! Marion is a local girl, born in 1980 and immersed in the jazz scene with the saxophonist of the moment, Raphaël Imbert, and the Nine Spirit Company. On 13 July, the Palais Longchamp will be buzzing with the sounds of Marion Rampal, a 100% jazz Marseillaise, and there’s no doubt that she’ll be enchanting the crowd and getting them swinging!
