Camille Constantin Aka Gildaa is in residence at the Fondation Camargo. This is the eruptive revelation of a great artist. At the Conservatoire d’art dramatique, she taught herself singing and percussion in addition to her classes. It was here that she met her alter ego – Gildaa, a fusion of her artistic practices and her dual Franco-Brazilian culture. From there, she went on to write and compose. Gildaa is a Rite of Passage.
“In front of Gildaa, the feeling of being in front of a jazz diva, a mythological presence with a pure, boundless voice. A Brazilian child witch, an African goddess, a Parisian princess of contemporary music whose madcap wit and multiple heritages savagely and brilliantly clash with our formatted expectations. What she invents today is unique, her energy unheard of, her freedom absolute.” Judith Chemla.
